Not everyone that takes up the sport of skateboarding will end up wanting to do it on a regular basis. It is best to find out before you go out and invest a fortune in a very good skateboard. There are plenty of cheap ones you can get at local retailers that will work well for learning the basics. Should you decide you no long want to skateboard you can get rid of it or put it out in the garage. There wont be too much money wasted on such efforts.
A cheap skateboard doesnt mean you arent going to be able to enjoy it though. You will find many of them have awesome designs and paint jobs on them. Many of them are designed by professional skateboarders as manufacturers known that is an excellent way to help ensure they are going to be good sellers.
Many cheap skateboards look like the more expensive ones so you dont have to worry that everyone will be able to tell how much was spent on it. Make a deal with your child that if they learn to ride it and they are still interested in skateboarding in about six months you will discuss investing in a better model for them to skate with.
As a parent, you may be concerned that your childs desire to have a skateboard is just one more passing urge. Yet you dont want to tell them they cant have it so you can just get them a cheap skateboard. For many children, the idea of riding it is much more interesting than learning how to do it. They may not want to put out the effort or they may simply have some other interest that takes precedence the next week.
You can buy cheap skateboards though for about $ so you wont be out too much money. You can always sell it to a neighborhood kid, donate it, or place it in a yard sale. Cheap skateboards are going to be durable enough though that your child can have some fun on it. They will also be able to safely ride it as it isnt going to split in two or have wheels falling off.
