Glass Blowing Classes

If you want to learn the art of glass blowing your best bet is to take some classes. They may be offered at your local community center or college. You may have to do some online searching to come up with something that fits well into your schedule. You want to make sure the classes are small so you can get plenty of personal attention from the teacher. You also want to make sure the instructor is well certified but often these classes are taught by those that engage in the art of glass blowing on a regular basis.

Before you sign up for such classes though you need to understand that you will need to be very detail oriented. These types of classes take time for people to master the skills so you arent going to be able to rush through it in just a couple of sessions. It is going to take commitment on your part to continue working to make progress even when it gets complicated.

Some students of glass blowing become frustrated with the learning process. While you will eventually get hands on training it wont start out that way. Most instructors are going to give you a basic overview of glass blowing before anything else. Next they will talk to you about safety measures that have to be taken in the classroom. You will likely be furnished with eyewear and gloves for the class or asked to bring in your own.

There are many different tools that can be used in the process of glass blowing. You wont be effectively able to use them until you learn about what each one does. After you have gone over all of this information then it will be time to start observing the instructor with the glass blowing process. Only after all of this has taken place will you be allowed to start trying it on your own.

Many glass blowing classes will require you to purchase a kit. This will have all of the basic items you need to get started. Sometimes the instructor will tell you the type of kit to buy and where to get it. You will be required to bring it with you for the first class. Other instructors will have the glass blowing kits there and you just have to pay for them. In many instances they can get discounts for buying large quantities of them at one time.
