Pagers

A pager is a type of electronic device that provides you with information. Generally it is just a phone number to return a call to. However, in some instances it can be a message. Individuals that are on call for a job may be required to have a pager at certain times. This way they can be reached to take care of business when a need arises. Some types of businesses that do this include the hospitals, repair services, police, and fire departments.

Some individuals carry a pager with them as well. They may have given the number to certain business contacts. They may have it in the event of a medical need for a family member or so their children can reach them. Pagers have become very inexpensive so it is an affordable and convenient device for communication to occur.

A pager works the same way in which a radio does. It has a transmitter that sends a signal over the designated frequency. The signal is from the tower of the company that is providing the service for the pager. The way in which you will know you have a page depends on the type of pager you have. Some offer several setting so you can easily pick which one you want to use at any given time.

Many pagers are known as beepers due to the beeping sound they offer when a page has been received. For privacy and to respect others, this can often be set to vibrate when you are in a public place. Some pagers feature a voice tone from a recorder that will provide you with the information. This is convenient if you are driving and need to listen to a page at the same time.

The most common type of pager will only display a phone number from the caller. The recipient of the page will then need to call that number back to find out what they need is. Some pagers also allow a person to send a message back to the sender. These are fairly new models. This can be a convenient way to communicate, especially if you arent near a phone when you get a page.
