Many students realize the focus that college admissions put on the SAT scores they earn. As a result they may stress about the entire testing process. They know there will be questions covering all types of things but that doesnt help them to stop worrying about how they will do. One of the best tools out there is the PSAT exam. This is a practice SAT exam that has questions very similar to what will be found on the actual test.
Students can take the PSAT at home in a workbook or online. This should be done very early such as at the end of the junior year of high school. It allows the student to get a realistic picture of how they will score on the SAT. It also gives them time to continue working on the skill areas where they didnt score very high. This way when the actual SAT comes around they know what to expect and they can do quite well on it.
Many high school counselors have PSAT exams in their offices. They can schedule time for interested students to take them. Many school and public libraries also have the materials available. This is better than having to pay for the materials on your own to study from. PSAT exams are very well developed and they can be a very important tool for helping get ready for that important SAT test.
The PSAT wont have the real questions that you are going to see the SAT exam. This means it isnt going to do you any good to memorize questions and answers. Instead you need to use the PSAT to be able to help you understand the various concepts involved in the various areas that will be featured on the SAT exam.
Statistics show that students that have completed the PSAT score much higher than those that simply show up to take the SAT. This is because they know what to expect from the testing process. They arent full of anxiety when they show up for the test and they are confident that they can do a good job on it. Parents need to understand how important this is and help their child to work at the PSAT as well.
